I have always been fiercely independent. I don’t know how many times in my life I’ve insisted on “just doing it myself!” Needing help felt shameful. Even worse was admitting I was wrong.
This inner strength, determination and my eternal curiosity has led me to explore and learn new wellness and healing modalities continually for the last 20 years. Unfortunately, my independent nature, pervasive perfectionism and fear of failure would bring cycles of overwhelm, frustration and avoidance.
It is difficult to receive support when you’re ashamed to ask for help. And when you won’t accept support, you carry the burdens alone. This leads to stress levels that just keep building. Eventually my body paid the price for the choices I made and the lifestyle I was living.
Ironically, I have spent over 20 years in the health and wellness field, helping people deal with their own stress and illnesses. It wasn’t until I started working with coaches and learning about new mindset tools and thought work that I started to be able to change my relationship with stress.
Dealing with stress helped me heal my autoimmune condition and change my relationship with chronic pain. Ultimately being open to receiving help from a coach also helped me be open to receiving support in other areas of my life.
What can a coach do for you?
A coach sees you from another perspective. They aren’t invested in your stories or your drama. They see the you that exists beyond your limiting beliefs, fears and trauma that live in your head. They can also offer tools to help you break your vicious cycles or unconscious, unhealthy habits.
Hiring a coach was literally one of the best investments I have ever made in myself (and for my business). Now that I understand how wonderful it is to have someone in my corner, whose job it is to support me, I’ll never go back to doing everything myself. By focusing on what matter most, my life gets better and better.
Can you imagine the time you’ll save if you can stop the cycle of spin out and self sabotage? Can you imagine what you could accomplish if you can move past the fears that have kept you playing small? What would it feel like to have a supportive guide to help you talk through your next big idea? Can you imagine how joyful and satisfying life could be if you can delegate tasks that you don’t like so you can spend more time doing things that you love?
What matters most in your life? Do you focus on these things or get stuck dealing with burdens that just weigh you down? What would it feel like to get support to help you lighten the load?
What are you waiting for? A better life is waiting for you.
